Coaches Meeting
Pre-season coaches meeting:
July 22nd
6:00pm
Zanos Pizza (back patio)
Coaches, Players and Families Sign-ups
On August 2nd at Riverview Park from 11:00am-3:00pm we will be
holding another round of signup's. On-site physicals ($25.00) will
also be available. Order forms for Truckee PopWarner gear (sweatshirts,
bags, hats, etc.) and donation forms will also be handed out.
Practices
The first practice is August 4th at the East-West
fields (Truckee High School) across from the Teen Center. Please
plan to arrive around 4PM for a mandatory pre-practice weight-in.
For those who haven't yet signed up there will be a doctor conducting
physicals ($25.00) at 3:30pm. Each team will have a
mandatory parents/coaches meeting following the first practice.
Subsequent practices will normally be from 5:00pm-7:00/7:30pm 4/5
nights per week. The exact nights and times are at the discretion
of your coaches. It is important to attend all practices and your
coach should be notified if you do need to miss practice. National
PopWarner rules state that no player is allowed to suit up until
they have completed 10 hours of conditioning (usually the first
week of practice), and no player is allowed to play in a game without
completing an additional 10 hours of contact practice.
On August 7th the players will be fitted for game
jerseys during practice and all order forms for Truckee PopWarner
gear are due.
Pre-season Barbeque
Friday August 22nd Truckee PopWarner will host the annual pre-season
BBQ. Game jerseys with the players names will be handed out to the
players. Each family will be charged $15.00 for admission to the
BBQ. Any Truckee PopWarner gear you've ordered will be handed out
during the BBQ.
Jamboree
The Jamboree will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at Carson High
School. Carson High School is at 1111 Saliman Road in Carson City.
The entry fee is $5 for anyone 16 and over however, all coaches,
players, and cheerleaders get in free. For a map to the high school
please click on the Jamboree link above.
Games
The games are on Friday nights and Saturdays, with most home games
being scheduled early in the season on Saturdays and the away games
on Friday or Saturday as the season progresses. There will be a
lot of travel and you can not depend on your coaches for transportation
you as it is against league policy. Schedules are not passed down
to individual teams from Sagebrush until early September. Schedules
can change, so please verify with your coaches prior to any travel.
Season
The Jamboree is 8/23 this year in Carson City, where all teams
play 3 mini scrimmage games. All players are weighed in before the
jamboree and the final team rosters are decided. This is a fun all
day event. The season may last into November if any teams advance
on to Regional's.
Pictures
Pictures are planned for the first week of September. Order forms
should be provided prior to the picture session. Pictures are taken
at the field during practices in full game uniforms.
Equipment
It is very important that your children come to each and every
game/practice totally prepared. They need all items listed on the
Equipment page including water bottles, and athletic supporter.
A full list of mandatory equipment and other good equipment ideas
is on the Equipment page. Also, please encourage your child to pick
up after him or herself after every practice and game.
Volunteer Positions
Each family will be required to sign-up for at least ONE
volunteer game day position (i.e. monitor, chain crew, etc.).
We are always looking for Team Managers to help with paper work,
snack bar help, fund-raising assistants, football/cheerleading coaches,
and future board members. Every game requires two player monitors
and every home game requires three additional volunteers to serve
as the chain gang. Games cannot proceed until these positions are
staffed.
